Emily Dickinson is back and ready to dip her toe into the spotlight. Apple TV+ released the first trailer for the popular series’ second season, last Friday. “Dickinson” is an American historical comedy-drama streaming television series created by Alena Smith, starring Hailee Steinfeld as a teenage version of the poet and offers a stylish, humorous, and contemporary portrait of her life in mid-19th century Amherst, Massachusetts.
The trailer of second season shows the young poet Emily Dickinson (Hailee Steinfeld) ambivalent about chasing the literary spotlight, while she is still having fun at house parties and kissing cute girls. Yet it seems nothing can stop her work from going viral anyway, especially if those printing presses can grant anonymity. “A part of me is pretty sure that fame isn’t good for me,” she explains in the trailer. “In fact, I think it could be very dangerous.”
In addition to Steinfeld, expect Wiz Khalifa as Death, Veep’s Timothy Simons as Frederick Law Olmsted, and Nick Kroll as Edgar Allan Poe to further confuse you about 19th-century New England.
One of the first shows to hit Apple TV+ when it launched in November 2019, “Dickinson” will also become one of the platform’s first shows to receive a second season, and has already been renewed for a third.
“Dickinson” will return to Apple TV on 8 January 2021.
