Netflix has announced the cast for its upcoming original historical action-drama series “Vikings: Valhalla”, a spin-off to the History Channel’s successful six season series “Vikings”, which was filmed in Ireland. “Vikings: Valhalla” begins 100 years after the original series concludes.
It will chronicle the legendary adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived: Leif Eriksson, Freydis Eriksdotter, Harald Hardrada, and the Norman King William the Conqueror. These men and women will blaze a path as they fight for survival in the ever-changing and evolving world.
The upcoming Netflix series will star Sam Corlett, Frida Gustavsson, Leo Suter, Bradley Freegard, Jóhannes Jóhannesson, Laura Berlin, David Oakes, while Caroline Henderson, Pollyanna McIntosh, and Asbjørn Krogh Nissen will appear in recurring roles.
Filming recently wrapped on Vikings: Valhalla, which like its predecessor, was shot in Ashford Studios in County Wicklow, and saw much of the Vikings team across all departments return for the series.
Jeb Stuart (screenwriter – “Die Hard” and “The Fugitive”) has taken over as showrunner from creator Michael Hirst, who remains executive producer alongside Stuart and Morgan O’Sullivan (“Vikings”, “Penny Dreadful”). The series is a co-production between MGM and Netflix.
All six seasons of “Vikings” were shot in Ashford Studios, with numerous Irish cast and crew featuring in the series.
No official release date has been announced for “Vikings: Valhalla”.
