Netflix released today the official trailer of its upcoming Brazilian original crime-drama -fantasy series “Invisible City” (original title in Portuguese “Cidade Invisível”), created and co-produced by Carlos Saldanha, who was the director of Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006), Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), Rio (2011), Rio 2 (2014). Saldanha was nominated in 2003 for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film for Gone Nutty and in 2018 for Best Animated Feature for Ferdinand.

The plot follows the efforts of the detective Eric (Marco Pigossi) from the Environmental Police Station to discover the real reasons for his wife’s death – which seem to be directly linked to the appearance of the pink dolphin on the beach. Running out of time to save his family, he ends up facing mythological creatures beings from Brazilian folklore during the investigation. He also gets involved in this fascinating world inhabited by mythical entities usually invisible to humans. 

With seven episodes, “Invisible City” brings relevant and current themes such as environmental protection, the rescue of Brazilian popular culture, in addition to exploring human relations through mysticism and mystery. 

Starring Marco Pigossi, Alessandra Negrini, Jessica Corres, Fabio Lago, Julia Konrad, Jose Dumont, Victor Anarpane and Áurea Maranhão are in the cast.

The series is set to premiere on 5 February 2021
