The Irish actor Paul Mescal who portrays Connel in the acclaimed Irish drama TV series ‘Normal People’ picked up another accolade, as he has posted on his Instagram Stories. He was included on prestigious Variety magazine’s 10 actors to watch in 2020 list. Mescal has reacted saying: Thank you so much Variety! Thrilled to be included with such incredible actors’.
Every year, for the past decades, Variety has named its top 10 actors to watch for that year. The publication has a pretty good record for choosing future Oscar winners and nominees, including Mahershala Ali, Timothée Chalamet, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Brie Larson, Lupita Nyong’o, and Melissa Leo.
Mescal was Emmy-nominated for his role in Lenny Abrahamson’s adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel. Currently, the actor is working alongside Melissa Barrera in a modern reimagining of the opera ‘Carmen’.
‘Variety magazine’s list also includes Maria Bakalova, who played Sacha Baron Cohen’s daughter in the recent ‘Borat’ sequel, Tiffany Boone of ‘Little Fires Everywhere’ and ‘The Alienist: Angle of Darkness’ star Rosy McEwen.
